Oct. 21 Weekend Stars

Here are some standout individual performances at both the high school and college level from over the weekend.

David Bailey, Boston College: In the Eagles' 45-24 win over NC State, this sophomore running back had the best game of his young career, as he had 182 yards and touchdown runs of 54 and 48 yards, averaging 11.3 yards per carry.

Shahid Barros, New Bedford: Did this.

Grant Buchanan, Bentley: This kicker from Holliston booted three field goals in the fourth quarter, the final one as time expired to give the Falcons a 30-27 win over Stonehill.

Brendan Burke, Quaboag: In a 43-0 win over David Prouty Saturday, this freshman fullback and middle linebacker carried the ball 13 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns, and made nine tackles and two sacks on defense.

Piero Canales and Danyul Oluwasuyi, KIPP Academy: In a 40-6 win over Keefe Tech, Canales had seven carries for 169 yards and two touchdowns, and Oluwasuyi rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Rich Canova, Danvers: In a 26-19 win over Beverly, this hard-nosed senior rushed for 170 yards — including a 9-yard score — on 32 carries. He also had a 21-yard touchdown reception.

Christian Carter, Merrimack: In a 30-21 win over Delaware State, Carter completed 18-of-37 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Jackson Cote, Old Rochester: This senior running back rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries in the Bulldogs' 34-26 win over Nauset.

Domenic Cozier, Holy Cross: This senior running back rushed for 98 yards on nine carriers and scored touchdowns of 66 and 17 yards in a 31-21 loss to Harvard.

Marcus Crawford, Springfield Central: This junior running back has been on a tear all season in his first year starting for the Golden Eagles. In a 60-0 win over Agawam, he ran the ball seven times for 58 yards and scored five touchdowns.

Hunter Dean, Plymouth South: In the Panthers' 41-14 win over North Quincy, this quarterback completed touchdown passes of 43, 14, and 12 yards.

Stefano D'Emillia, Bridgewater State: In a 56-20 win over UMass-Dartmouth, this Bridgewater-Raynham alum accounted for eight touchdowns and threw for a school record 345 yards and five touchdowns on 15-of-27 passing. He also rushed for 53 yards and three touchdowns to go along with a two-point conversion, as he had a hand in 50 of his team's 56 points.

Eamonn Dennis and Colin Schofield, St. John's of Shrewsbury: In a 58-26 win over Xaverian, Schofield, a senior quarterback headed to Williams, completed 14-of-23 passes for 349 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers. Dennis caught two passes for 113 yards and a touchdown to go along with three carries for 70 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and a 90-yard kickoff return for a score.

Jack Ford, Lynnfield: Another week, another standout performance from this junior, who caught nine passes for 130 yards and made an interception on defense in a 28-22 win over Ipswich.

Mathias Fowler, Lynn English: In a 48-7 win over Saugus, Fowler threw for 118 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for a score, had 40 yards and a touchdown receiving, and intercepted a pass with a 35-yard return. This marked his third four-touchdown game of the season, and second where he ran, threw, and caught one.

John Garell, Case: An offensive guard and middle linebacker, this senior captain made 12 tackles — four for loss — and blocked a punt in his team's 42-8 win over Wareham. The win clinched Case's second straight South Coast Conference Gold Division title.

Thomas Gasbarro and Jack Nally, Franklin: In a 37-7 win over Attleboro, Gasbarro completed 17-of-27 passes for 280 yards, three touchdowns, and rushed for another. Nally caught seven passes for 138 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for a score.

Daniel Gisonno, Lynn Classical: In a 58-6 win over Gloucester, this senior quarterback completed 17-of-21 passes for 239 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 66 yards and a score.

Isaias Gomes, Chicopee Comp: In a 53-35 win over Holyoke, Gomes rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries.

Mitch Gonser, Milton Academy: In the biggest ISL game of the weekend, the Mustangs' 20-14 overtime win over Governor's Academy, no one came up bigger than this Medfield native. The senior caught three touchdown passes, blocked two field goals — one of which preserved a tie with 11 seconds left to send the game into overtime — and made an interception. His third touchdown catch came in the extra session to seal the victory.

Mason Hatfield, Lexington: In a 19-14 win over Woburn, Hatfield 155 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. He also completed a 54-yard pass on fourth-and-17 in the fourth quarter as he managed a last-minute, game-winning drive. He finished with 64 passing yards and made four tackles on defense.

Ty Harding, BB&N: In a 24-21 win over Nobles, Harding made four receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns, three rushes for 15 yards, and eight tackles on defense.

Ben Lofstrom, Silver Lake: In a 55-13 win over Middleboro, this quarterback had five touchdowns — four passing and a 64-yarder on the ground — with 240 yards through the air and 86 rushing.

Brogan McPartland, Harvard: This defensive lineman made three sacks in the Crimson's 31-21 win at Holy Cross on Saturday.

Devonte Medley, Brockton: In the Boxers' 49-8 win over Durfee, this junior quarterback completed 18-of-21 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 56 yards rushing.

JB Mills and CJ Woodfine-Holmes, Amherst: Mills, a senior quarterback, threw for 225 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown in the Hurricanes' 53-22 win over Pittsfield. Junior receiver CJ Woodfine-Holmes caught nine passes for 152 yards and four touchdowns.

Duncan Moreland, Beverly: In his team's 26-19 loss to Danvers, this University of New Hampshire commit made 12.5 tackles, was in on 18, made an interception, and forced a fumble. On offense, he caught a touchdown pass.

Kevin Opoku, Southeastern: In just three quarters of work in his team's 27-12 win over Bristol-Plymouth, this running back rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries.

Anthony Oquendo, Fitchburg: In yet another sterling performance from this standout sophomore running back, Oquendo rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries in a 35-16 win over North Middlesex.

Jake Queeney, Stoughton: In the Black Knights' 14-10 win over Milford, Queeney made this grab on third-and-21 to seal the win. He also caught a 34-yard touchdown.

Collin Taylor, St. John's Prep: In a 10-0 win over BC High, this defensive end made two sacks and multiple tackles for loss, and blocked a punt and two passes.

Jacob Trzcienski, Greater Lowell Tech: In just his second start, a 37-24 win over Northeast Regional, this junior quarterback and defensive back completed all five pass attempts for 155 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown on four carries, made eight tackles and an interception, and returned a kickoff 68 yards for a touchdown.

Chase Vaughan, Milton: The sophomore quarterback completed 18-of-33 passes for 329 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 31-28 win over Needham. He orchestrated a 79-yard drive with 1:20 left that resulted in the game-winning field goal with three seconds left.
