Oct. 7 Weekend Stars
Here are some standout individual performances at both the high school and college level from over the weekend.

Shahid Barros, New Bedford: This senior made two interceptions — including a 40-yard pick-six — and had a forced and recovered fumble. He also had 31 yards receiving in the Whalers' 27-21 win over Barnstable.
CJ Cerella and Max Martin, Milford: In the Scarlet Hawks' 45-19 rout of North Attleboro, Cerella made 15 tackles — seven solo — with a forced fumble and pass breakup. He also kicked a 39-yard field goal. Martin caught eight passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he made an interception and broke up three other passes.
Peter Cleary, Pentucket: The quarterback completed 12-of-14 passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns in the Sachems' 27-12 win over Lynnfield.
Devin Darrington, Harvard: This running back carried the ball 12 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns in the Crimson's 62-17 win over Howard.
Jake Davis, Franklin: In a 27-6 win over Oliver Ames, Davis caught seven passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns on offense and made two interceptions on defense.
Connor Degenhardt, Holy Cross: In a 21-14 win over Bucknell, this quarterback threw 276 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more.
Eamonn Dennis and Sam Lavallee, St. John's (Shrewsbury): This electric senior who is headed to Michigan only touched the ball six times, but scored touchdowns on five of those opportunities. Dennis had four carries for 146 yards and three touchdowns, and returned two kickoffs for scores, as well, to add to his Central Mass. record. Lavallee was 9-of-9 on extra points for a single-game CMass record as the Pioneers beat Shepherd Hill, 63-52.
Khaleed Exum-Strong, Assumption: This sophomore running back rushed for touchdowns of 2, 11, 6 and 5 yards in the Greyhounds' thrilling, 45-42 overtime win over Bentley Saturday.
Mathias Fowler, Lynn English: In his second four-touchdown performance of the season, this junior completed 9-of-16 passes for 175 yards and a score, rushed for 79 yards and two more, and made two receptions for 55 yards and another TD. He also made four tackles and an interception from his cornerback position.
Christian Gemelli, Concord-Carlisle: In the Patriots' 21-20 win over Wayland, Gemelli had a 37-yard touchdown run, a 50-yard kickoff return, a 25-yard touchdown pass, and a game-winning two-point conversion rush with 43 seconds to play.
Dennis Grosel, Boston College: Although his stat line was not gaudy, the backup quarterback filled in admirably for starter Anthony Brown by throwing for three touchdown passes in the Eagles' 41-39 loss to Louisville.
Brian Hamilton, Billerica: In the Indians' 32-8 win over Dracut, this junior carried the ball 28 times for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
Mason Hatfield and Charles Mabardy, Lexington: In a 56-27 win over Arlington, Hatfield rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. He also caught two passes for 25 yards and a touchdown and had 170 return yards. Mabardy threw for 109 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Anthony Izzo, Minnechaug: The senior quarterback completed 12-of-22 passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers in the Falcons' 42-19 win over West Springfield.
Nick Marciano, Mansfield: In the Hornets' 15-13 win over King Philip Friday night, Marciano had a big kick return to set up his team's second touchdown, then ran in the two-point conversion to make it a two-score game late.
Bakari Mitchell, Lynnfield: In his team's 27-12 loss to Pentucket, Mitchell caught seven passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Chinedu Ogbonna, UMass: In a 44-0 loss to Florida International, this linebacker made six tackles, two for loss, and a sack.
Jake Ragusa, Merrimack: This Canton native made five tackles, including three for loss, in the Warriors' 24-17 loss to Bryant Saturday.
Shanley St. Vill, Mystic Valley: In his team's 37-0 win over Holbrook, St. Vill carried the ball nine times for 176 yards and a touchdown. He also made six tackles.
Matt Scibilio, Scituate: The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns to four different receivers as the Sailors defeated North Quincy, 28-0.
Jared Silverio, BB&N: In the Knights' 36-19 win over Thayer, this junior quarterback completed 10-of-15 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball eight times for 65 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for a two-point conversion, as well.
Bailey Smith, Wilmington: This senior running back/linebacker had a monster night on both sides of the ball in his team's 33-7 win over Watertown. Smith rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on offense and led the defense with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Shiloh White, Catholic Memorial: This junior running back carried the ball 11 times for 145 yards and a touchdown in the Knights' 42-10 win over Xaverian Friday night.
Adam Wojenski, Framingham State: In the Rams' 39-33 win over previously-unbeaten UMass-Dartmouth, this quarterback completed 14-of-25 passes for 422 yards and five touchdowns, including a 97-yarder to Jacob Maher in the third quarter.
